4 Things to Do to Get Your Permanent Skilled Visa Approved

Australia has one of the largest demands for foreign workers in the world. As of March 2019, the country’s government has set permanent migration places at 160,000 for the next four years, which includes places for skilled migrants and families.

Occupations with the largest demands include secondary school teachers, nurses, carpenters, technicians and mechanics, among others.

One of the more well-known work visas is the subclass 189. This visa for Australian skilled migration allows applicants to work and live anywhere in the country. Applicants are also not required to have a nomination from an employer, state or territory to be issued a permanent visa.

Applying for a visa can be costly and time-consuming. If you are planning to migrate to the Land Down Under, you need to make your application for a visa to Australia count. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your opportunity and increase your chances of getting approved:

1. Apply for the right visa.

This may sound obvious, but it can be quite difficult to accomplish. Applicants often get confused when trying to determine the appropriate visa to apply for since there are so many to choose from. Even figuring out the right visa that allows you to work can be tricky.

Are you planning to apply for permanent residency in the future, or are you just staying in the country until your contract is finished? Will you be sponsoring any of your relatives to visit, or do they plan to become migrants as well? Where in Australia do you plan to stay and work?

Look into each visa type and subclass carefully, and then consider your individual circumstances and your purpose for wanting to migrate. Your answers questions like these will determine what type of visa you should apply for.

2. Show your value.

Since there are thousands of applications to Australia coming in from overseas on a yearly basis, you need to prove to the country’s immigration officials that you are the worker or professional that they are looking for.

Show proof of your knowledge, skills and expertise in a particular line of work, field or industry. Include copies of your school transcripts, English language proficiency scores, and certificates. List down the companies you have previously worked for, with dates and a detailed description of your responsibilities for each period of employment.

Submit recommendations from colleagues and your supervisors as evidence of your abilities and character. You may also need to include the contact details of the people listed. This will allow the officials to cross-check the details you have provided in your application.

3. Include all supporting documents in your application.

Australian visa applications entail more than simply filling up forms. Applicants also need to provide as many documents as possible that support the information they stated on file. The government will require evidence proving your identity and character as well.

Do you have a business back in your home country? Include official government documents proving that your business exists and that it is running legally. Provide receipts, sales files, bank records, tax returns, and copies of the pay slips of employees you hired.

Similar documents may be required if you are aiming to prove your work experience in a specific field. Include bank statements and/or pay slips to show that you are paid on a regular basis.

Not sure if you should include a specific document? Include it in your application anyway. It is better to provide the officials with more than what is required than having your application rejected because of lack of information or evidence.

4. Be honest and consistent.

The Department of Immigration and Border Control in Australia will investigate, check and scrutinize each piece of information and detail on your application. Making a mistake, however minute or unintentional, can have grave consequences. Even forgetting to disclose a minor drinking and driving charge that happened when you were a minor could potentially jeopardize your application altogether.

Cross-check all the information that you have provided and make sure everything is consistent with the rest of your application. If you are unsure, consult a migration agent before submitting any files.

5. Hire a registered migration agent.

Finally, having your own migration agent working on your case is not required by the government. However, their knowledge and expertise comes in handy when submitting your application.

The visa application process can get complicated. You need somebody on your side to go through your application and make sure that everything you need is there before you upload and submit the necessary documents. So make sure to choose a trusted company with years of experience in helping people with their goal of migrating to Australia.
